Reminds me of an old management training exercise. We had to decide if our shuttle would explode or launch safely based on the nerd engineers advice. We said go for it. Whoops …
Fascinating. It also illustrated how it is possible to load a presentation with facts and figures, while remaining engaging—because they were concise, relevant, and supported with simple graphics.
Indeed it is a brilliant performance. No other country has produced such a vehicle, reusable and launched off the back of a passenger jet. I know it’s a spoiler but I would love to know how many were involved in writing the talk, how long it took to rehearse, and was there any competition in choosing who would present it. In films it takes days to shoot a scent. The Errol Flynn film of Robin Hood had a fight in the banqueting hall that took four days to film, with new costumes every day, fires at the unique stage of combustion, actors and animals looking as if it was over in twenty minutes.
